This semester I was tasked with creating my own lesson that involved a hands-on activity.
First, I needed to decide upon the topic that I would teach. I saw so many opportunities to work with triangles, so, I decided to teach the Law of Cosines and finding a missing side given an angle and the measurement of two sides. The hands-on part of this activity came in when I had the students measure two different sides of the large table in our classroom, calculate the angle between the two sides using a protractor and using that information, estimate the length from one part of the table to the other. |
