This semester, I was tasked with creating a math lesson using any type of technology platform. First, I thought about the age range of students I would be teaching in the future, elementary and middle school students. Jumping off of this idea I also thought about my prior experiences with mathematical technology and one platform in particular seemed to stand out to me in being beneficial to my target age group: Desmos.
Desmos is a sort of graphing calculator in the sense that it allows you to put in any type of functions and it will graph it right on your computer screen. See an example of a function being typed in the photo below.
Now... How to put it together?
After deciding my platform and topic I set out to create my lesson. While researching I found that there was a way for students to be able to interact with a lesson I created directly on Desmos using example problems I made up myself. I also created worksheet that had a link to my lesson as well as step by step instructions describing how to graph a piece-wise function in Desmos.
